Missional Mindset for Life in a Digital Age
How did a blender end up on my bed? While we worked in our bedroom office, we asked the kids to hand over all the tech. They brought the laptops and phones…then marched in with the blender and coffee maker from the kitchen. Smartallics. We laughed, and the afternoon turned into board games.
Screens themselves aren’t the problem. Would you agree, WBC Friends? The real question is how we use them in response to life. For me, Instagram once became an escape from little kids and housework; a quick dopamine hit when I was running on empty. Maybe you’ve felt that too.
But God has placed us in this digital age, and that’s something to steward for the Kingdom and to take the gospel to where it is not.
In our family that looks like:
Starting the day with family devotions using the YouVersion app
Praying with friends in India over WhatsApp
Sharing a faith-based parenting podcast with a school mom
Using text messages to build friendships with new connections
Running video workshops for missions in Southeast Asia
Caring for our parents across the globe through regular updates.
Everyday tools, used with a missional mindset.
This isn’t rocket science—it’s simply life with intention. As we return to family rhythms and work systems, setting habits around Kingdom values is worth it.
May you be encouraged to live on purpose during this digital age.
This month in ministry we are asking the question, “How might we help everyday followers of Jesus live on mission in a digital age?” and giving leadership to the Indigitous #HACK event happening in 58 cities. You can follow along with our prayer updates on WhatsApp.
Thank you for living on Kingdom-purpose with us.
