School of Discipleship
SPIRITUAL FORMATION CLASSES
These are the three courses offered in the Spiritual Formation track. Read below for details.
Spiritual Disciplines
Spiritual Disciplines is a practical and formative course designed to help students live as an apprentice of Jesus—being with Him, becoming like Him, and doing what He did.
Rooted in Jesus' call to “follow me” (Matt. 4:19) and to “observe everything” He has commanded (Matt. 28:20), this course explores how the gospel transforms both our inner life and outward actions. We will study and practice spiritual disciplines such as prayer, study, sabbath, fasting, worship, solitude, and creating a personal rule of life. These disciplines are not about checking religious boxes, but about opening ourselves to the transforming presence of God as we adopt the rhythms and priorities of Jesus. Together, we’ll discover how these practices shape our character, deepen our communion with God, and empower us to live out the way of Jesus in daily life.

Christ Formation
Rooted in the truth that humanity was originally created in God’s image, and that salvation restores this image, students will study the ongoing process of sanctification—God’s transformative work through the Holy Spirit as believers commit to follow Jesus. This course invites you into intentional spiritual formation—personally and communally—through Scripture, discussion, prayer, and reflection. Our goal is to become more aware of God’s presence in every part of life and to live as people who radiate the glory of Christ in the church and in the world. As we behold the glory of Christ, we are changed into His likeness—for His glory and our joy.
Grounded in a biblical vision of transformation, this class examines how God continues His redemptive work by shaping believers into the image of Christ.
Next Class: TBD
Prayer
This is a course that invites students into a deeper understanding and practice of prayer by looking closely at the life of Jesus and the early church.
Students will explore how Jesus taught His disciples to pray—not just as a religious activity, but as a way of life that reorders our hearts, aligns our desires with God's, and draws us into His purposes for the world. Students will learn what it means to pray, not just with our words but with our whole lives. This class will include teaching, discussion, and opportunities to practice and grow in prayer as followers of Christ.
Next Class: April 7-May 26
