Trevor & Hannah Martin

Our mission with Power to Change is to help students take their next step towards Jesus.  It doesn't matter where they are on their spiritual journey, it is our privilege to be able to step into this small section of their life and journey with them.

This week, Hannah was able to hear stories from two of the girls that she disciples share about how their involvement with Power to Change helped grow their prayer life. Prayer, especially corporate prayer is a spiritual practice that many students find difficult.  Jenna and Brooke expressed how they had to overcome caring about what others thought of them when they prayed out loud.  Being in an environment where others were willing to pray "ineloquently" allowed them to take the step to be more honest with God and others.

Brooke said, "I thought that I had to pray big prayers like my dad, but really I'm just talking to God and He knows what I mean even if it doesn't come out perfect." She has recognized how her faith has grown to be her own. Jenna is graduating soon and we are excited to see how this can be a part of shaping her walk with God personally and in community in for the rest of her life. Thank you for being a part of setting students up for a lifetime of knowing, trusting and following Jesus!

Do you know of a student going into University in Canada?

Power to change has 100+ awards available, totalling up to $50,000.  We want to help students transition into a community of faith when they enter this new stage of their life. The application process is created to help a student have meaningful reflection on their who they are and their relationship with God.

Remembering Trevor's Dad

Trevor's brother and sister-in-law made a wonderful website putting together many of the pieces to remember Trevor's dad.  Here you'll find the Celebration of Life video recording.  At the 27:45 mark, Amelia honours her Grandpa by sharing a version of Psalm 23 from the Jesus Storybook Bible.

On a lighter note, our family decided to do our own version of the viral dance to the Forrest Frank "Your Way is Better" song.

Prayer Requests
1) For our family and extended family as we continue to grieve the loss of Trevor's father.
2) For an encouraging and rejuvenating time at our Power to Change National Staff Conference July 21-24
3) For wisdom for Hannah's team as they discern how to best serve students this school year at University of Waterloo, Laurier and Conestoga College
