“This Will Work…”
“I have something to say,” the young man raised his hand requesting to speak.
“I come from one of these places. We cannot send missionaries here or do traditional church planting. But, this strategy will work.”
The context was a fundraising event in a North American home. People gathered to hear stories of God at work and to consider partnering with our effort in South Asia. We were explaining the need for Christians to stay in tier 3 cities across South Asia, work in IT companies and minister bi-vocationally to bring the gospel where it hasn’t gone before through the relational networks they have and digital strategies that surface spiritually curious friends.
It was one of those God moments. A young man from South Asia had been invited to join the event. He had been chasing a dream of a lucrative IT career. God had brought him to a new land and yet the spiritual lostness of his motherland still gripped his heart. With tears, and unprompted, he commended our work to the group, sharing how something like this would have surely reached him in a lesser known city before Christ found him in a major city. Across South Asia, there are real barriers to traditional missions, but digital channels and networks can help bridge the gaps.
This year across South Asia over 1,000 people have engaged in various events and activities through the Indigitous network. There is a youthful energy being unlocked for the kingdom as we envision and equip young people to create gospel tools that are culturally relevant to where God has put them in the small and unknown places of South Asia.
WBC Friends, thank you for your partnership in helping bring the gospel to South Asia.
